This study deals with multiple preverbs in some ancient Indo-European languages, specifically, in Vedic, Homeric Greek, Old Church Slavic, and Old Irish. By investigating a relatively underrepresented phenomenon, such as multiple preverbs, in a relatively wide sample of Indo-European languages, and by integrating up-to-date literature relating to preverbs in diverse languages, the study offers historical linguists, Indoeuropeanists, and also typologists a precise and comprehensive understanding of the common reasons behind the behavior and historical development of preverbs.
