This book is unique in that it wants to make games more child-initiated. A Major section discusses how to facilitate children in making up their own games or, at the very least, how to allow children to change
the way they play already familiar games.
There are 45 games in this book and they all have one thing in common. Each game has a section called "Variations." These variations offer a total of 185 alternative ways of playing the games. When used appropriately, a simple game of tag can be expanded into a game that can be used over and over again in many different forms. Once the children get the hang of creating their own variations to a tried and true game, or making up a completely new game, there is the potential of hundreds more games for hours upon hours of fun. It's important to remember: children play games to have fun.
